Subscribe

You pop up in my thoughts
You pop up in my dreams
When I am focused, you pop up
and invade my thoughts
like spam

I try to delete you
I try to ignore you
I try to "exit" you
but you push your way through
like a sunbeam on a dark day

Then I find myself
accepting you, reading you
looking forward to you
and it makes me wonder
when did I suscribe
to you?

When All Is Said & Done

Like a moth to a flame....

Words cannot be unsaid
Feelings cannot be unfelt
Hearts cannot unbeat
Fire cannot unburn

Once the words are spoken
They are replayed like a tape
Once the feelings are felt
They're trapped with no escape

Once the heart has beaten
And feels in such a way
The happiness & lightness
You will want to that feeling to stay

Once the fire of your soul
Has been lit & gently stoked
That is when all is said and done
I surrender to being wrapped in your cloak

Quiet Signs Friday

If you can't get quiet enough to hear yourself, your life is too loud. ~Terri Guillemets

Amen

Dear Lord of Mercy and Father of Comfort,

You are the One I turn to for help in moments of weakness and times of need. I ask you to be with your servant, Cassie, in this illness. Psalm 107:20 says that you send out your Word and heal. So then, please send your healing Word to her. In the name of Jesus, drive out all infirmity and sickness from her body.

While I walked in the silent cold & snow this morning, my mind was stayed on this prayer.

Namaste.

Listen to Me

Dear Teen-aged Me,

This is you in your 49th year, five months short of your 50th. I am sure that in itself freaks you out since you thought 30 years was "old." I am going to give you some life tips; keep this list close to you at all times. Do not stray from it and you should do okay:

  • Accept what you look like & love yourself. Everybody is different for a reason
  • Looks are fleeting so don't worry about being "cute" or "pretty". What will make you awesome is your attitude, your sense of humor, your kind heart, and your smile. Looks may get you into the room, but common sense keeps you in there.
  • Besides, the girls that you think are 'all that' become 'not so pretty & slim' later in your life. You will smile about that inside :-)
  • NEVER try to 'fit in.' If it's not for you the way you are then walk away
  • Stay away from gossipers. If they gossip to & with you; they will surely gossip about you
  • Don't ever EVEN think of getting the gap in your teeth closed w/braces. You will find out that it is truly part of what makes you you
  • Take your schooling as far as you can. Continue to learn as much as you can forever. Always strive to learn something new, daily, even if it's only a new word. Learn!

  • Try to keep the self-esteem your family instilled in you. Without it, you will miss out, misuse, mistake, & make bad judgments
  • DO. NOT fall into the "guy trap" of being with every guy just because he wants to be with you. Choose for yourself & be very selective & careful. You are much more precious than that
  • If you feel pressured to have sex. Don't. You'll thank yourself later.
  • DO. NOT confuse sex with love. They are the polar opposites of each other. You may feel extremely special at that time, but you may get your heart broken beyond repair
  • No matter what type of employment you have, do it like you love it, and be the best at it. You will be working for God, not man
  • Always be able to take care of yourself financially.
  • Always have a goal and work toward it, constantly
  • Always have a hobby and enjoy it, constantly
  • Always believe the best is yet to come
  • If you're not happy about something, change it, especially in your relationship(s)
  • Don't EVER stay with a guy who hits you, even once. EVER!
  • If you're going to have children, marry their father FIRST
  • If you're going to marry, talk to your pastor to make sure you guys are on the same page
  • Keep God first and foremost @ the helm of your life. Remember how you loved Sunday school? Keep loving it
  • Always think and speak positive thoughts & words
  • Always remember how beautiful & perfectly made you are
  • Stay close to your family; they're really all you have
  • That gut feeling in your belly & that little voice in your head? Listen to them. It will make all the difference in the "whats/who's & where's in your life
  • Take chances & risks for good things no matter how nervous it might make you; ships are safe in the harbor, but that's not what ships were made for
  • Lastly, listen to your mother with the fierceness. She really DOES know everything. She wasn't born your mother; she was a teenager just like you.
Namaste.

Life is a Flower

It begins deep under the earth
with the warm soil & God calling it forth
when it's time to bloom

Stretching up toward the fresh air
and sunlight that is needed for growth

Rains come down & give it what it needs
at just the right time
Heavy drops weighing it down sits
delicately on its delicate petals

Winds challenge it, forcing it to brace
itself, but also teaching it to bend &
sway and stand its ground

It grows strong and mighty, showing off
its beauty with confidence
Nature comes to it and takes what it needs
to keep the life-cycle going

Pruning, tweaking, keeping bad weeds away
Encouraging maximum growth with love & care
Until its season is done
And it returns to the ground from which it came

Life is a flower of which love is the honey

Meeting Again

Photo courtesy from "Yeah Write" blog

Why was traffic so heavy?
Everyone moving so slow
She squirmed in the driver's seat
She had someplace to go

An old friend from the past he is
An old love from school
Why did she agree to this?
Nervously grinning like a fool

He has a "Mrs."; she has an "other"
But the quickening in her heart
Could not be hidden under cover

They spoke and embraced
Time faded away
They couldn't believe after 20+ years
They were holding each other today

The story continues
Feelings can't be contained
For there is nothing to the joy
Of meeting again....

Carry On Tuesday phrase: the pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again

Paradise

"Sweetwater", indeed

"Shine though the pines"

"A long walk off a short pier" :-)

My new reading spot

Double take - from a distance, I thought this was a child

"Blue"

"Cat O' Nines in the wind"

"Swan." Sort of  "Monet-esque", no? Lol

I live about 5/10 minutes away from this lake. How many times have I driven past & around it without really taking time to "see" it. When I was a kid, it used to the site of "The Meyers Lake Amusement Park." Now, it's built up with large lake houses & condos. But the lake is still untouched. I realized I am blessed to live so near to paradise.

Quiet Signs Friday

"Mantra"

Still Kickin'

"Growth"
Seems I feel off the planet, eh? Lol. I didn't realize how long it had been since I posted. My mind has been a jumbled mess of rush, rush, rush w/my son's basketball, and then I haven't been very inspired. We're in the "gray" period of weather where drear overrules some days. Not a lot of snow, yet very cold, even when the sun does grace us with its presence.

As you can see, I've changed the looks of this place. My "words" for 2013 are "change" and "grow", so I thought I'd start with the easiest thing to do. I like how it looks less cluttered. I have enough clutter in my life, so at least this spot will look nice, clean & organized.

Nothing exciting or new has occurred so far in these 2 weeks into the New Year. It seems my employer is still sinking toward bottom, so I've been doing the resume thing. A good friend offered to "tweak" it a bit - to bring me into the current century. Lol. Or, in her words: "Tracey - NOBODY says "typing" anymore. Nor do they say "wpm" (words per minute); that is so Stone Age. Uggghh... I feel like a relic.

But I'm still kickin'. Peace & light ;-)

2013 - Quiet Sign Friday

"My prayer"
Please excuse my mis-spelling of "strength". DUH!

Frozen Friday

"Widow Makers"

"in the moment"

"frozen sunset"

Well, you can see what we have going on in my corner of the planet - frozen tundra. The temps have been in the high 20's w/windchill factor making it about 10 degrees. Especially with the wind. But today is also the first day the sky was cobalt blue and the sun was shining. Shining just enough to turn some frozen spots into slush, but not much. My street is still snow/ice covered but it's manageable.

"encased"
The "Widow Makers" are outside my office window. I didn't know they were called that for their danger in falling & totally cracking skulls!! I can see that happening. I read a book called "The Lovely Bones." Without giving major spoiler alert if you haven't read it, I'll just say I can't see these W.M's without thinking of that book.

Otherwise, there is not much to do when the weather is such. I've been taking this hibernation time to write faithfully in my journals & take my time to personalize cards. Out of no where, I started a kind of funky prayer journal aside from my daily journal. I say funky cause it's where I pour my heart out to God, yet I still add in stamps, dried flowers, quotes, sentences from the pages of old mags. Like hanging out w/God & giving Him all my prayers & stuff. I find it completely releasing. :-)

Hoping you are keeping warm and safe so far in the New Year, my friends.

My Story, Part II
